The trial run of Jaipur Metro train was flagged off by Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on 18 September 2013 at the newly constructed Mansarovar station of Jaipur. The trial run took place on a 2.4 km track between Mansarovar and Shyam Nagar via New Atish Market and Vivek Vihar stations.
About the Trial Run
The trial run, a mandatory requirement for the commissioning of any Metro corridor. This trial run was started between the Mansarovar and the Shyam Nagar stations, a four kilometre stretch out of the 9.25 kilometre long Mansarovar- Chandpole corridor. The corridor (Phase 1A of the Jaipur Metro project) is named the Pink Line and comprises nine stations.
About Jaipur Metro Project
The foundation stone for the Jaipur Metro project was laid on the 24 February 2011. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) had signed an agreement in 2010, according to which, the DMRC would construct the metro corridor for the Jaipur Metro.
This 9.25 kilometre long stretch is a part of the 11. 56 Km long Mansarovar – Badi Chaupar corridor aligned along the East-West direction under Jaipur Metro’s Phase 1. And the other Metro corridor will be a 23 Km long stretch aligned along the North- South direction from Durgapura to Ambabari under Jaipur Metro Phase-2.
The Jaipur Metro project is DMRC’s first Metro construction project outside the National Capital Region. DMRC is also executing the Kochi Metro project on deposit terms, which will be a 25.25 Km long corridor from Aluva to Petta.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi for executing the first phase of the project from Aluva to Pettah in May 2013.
